01
About

Independent in ownership, deliberate in process, accountable to the people it will serve.

Everest Asset Management Ltd. is an Alberta corporation headquartered in Calgary. The firm is being established to build an independent Canadian alternative asset management business.

Everest is currently in its organizational phase: assembling its team, building its operational and technology infrastructure, and putting in place the governance and controls appropriate to an asset management business.

Our mission is to build an enduring Canadian asset management firm, one where value, liquidity and alignment with clients are the foundation of everything the firm does.
02
Values
i.

Value

Everest’s intended investment approach emphasizes durable businesses with competitive advantages, sensible valuations and a margin of safety. The firm intends to apply a structured, repeatable process rather than relying on market fashion or short-term prediction.

ii.

Liquidity

Everest’s intended approach also emphasizes liquidity and diversified sources of return, with the objective of maintaining flexibility during periods of market stress.

iii.

Alignment

A firm whose economics, incentives and conduct are designed to promote long-term alignment with the people it will serve. Everest intends to structure its business with the objective of aligning its interests with those of future clients.

03
Philosophy

Intended investment philosophy

Value

Everest’s intended approach would start with understanding businesses thoroughly: who leads an industry, why, and how durable that position is. Capital would then be committed only when the price paid offers a margin of safety and the investor is adequately rewarded for the risk taken. The firm would expect to hold a concentrated set of such businesses with patience, letting earnings compound rather than trading around the noise of the crowd.

Liquidity

Markets ebb and flow between despair and exuberance, and the firm does not intend to predict when. Instead, Everest’s intended portfolios would combine core holdings with liquid, diversified sources of return that can be repositioned quickly, with the objective of meeting periods of market stress from a position of flexibility rather than forced selling.

Alignment

Everest intends to align its incentives with the long-term interests of future clients. The firm believes investment decisions should come from process and temperament, not prediction.

This describes an intended philosophy only. Everest is not currently managing assets or providing investment advice, and nothing on this page is a recommendation or an offer of any service.
